CD REVIEW
The Artist I recently checked out the latest CD from Las Vegas 3piece band The Gashers entitled Law is not Order (Squidhat Records) released in 2012.
The band Line-up includes Jason-Guitar,Vox James-Bass,Vox Sandy-Drums,Vox.I would say they possess intermediate Punk Rock playing and singing abilities, and average to above average average songwriting skills. You will find a musical personality that is in your face and infectious with a hooky yet hard sound that simply takes no prisoners. Timing is spot on within this genera and musical grooves. Both Sandy and Jason can hold their own on vocals, but more importantly they delivers vocal performances that are highly entertaining and captivating. The strongest aspect of the production is the raw but good sound quality and the amazing rough and tumble attitude. The music possesses straight forward Punk Rock sound and could even be classified as Hard-Rock or Alternative Rock. All in all great music to get your head wrapped around. Songs will remind you of classic Pixies, Superchunk, Hole, and even L7 on steriods. The songs Simply put - music with an attitude with thought provoking lyrical content and a classic college rock vibe. I kept waiting for a weak song to come down the pike - I eventually gave up on that. The vibe Overall very upbeat, powerful and explosive with amazing stories that possess incredible highs and lows. CD does a good job at capturing this. The CD has it’s shares of powerful moments. Simply put - very much like life itself this CD personifies life experience, especially from a rebellious perspective. The music is 100% honest and pure. Trust me when I say this stuff can't be faked. The production is professional grade from start to finish. There's not many songs you can listen to time and time again. Production quality is Industry Standard. The good Solid recording quality. Solid production value. Entertaining music and rock solid songs. The bad CD tends to be a bit repetitive. The whole CD sounds like once very long song. The ugly Nothing to report.
The verdict The Gashers have everything: good chops, entertaining songs, heart felt vocals and music that covers allot of bases – Punk Rock, Alternative Rock to straight up Roc k. At the end of the day these guys can start a riot either live or in the studio. The Bottom Line WARNING - Listening to the The Gashers will open you eyes to the possibilities of what could be when you decide to push back - HARD.
