The Artist I recently checked out the latest CD from L.A. based Nothing Sacred entitled Hollywood Striphounds. OK I'll be honest  - I wanted to hate NS. A friend of mine once told me - what's the difference between a fake rock star & a real one? The fakes want you to like them, the real ones don't give a S%#T. What am I trying to say? These guys are for real.

The band Band members include Kelly Mikals (Vocals) Nikolazzi & Crash Cortez (Guitars) Danny Demure (Bass) & Danny Burkholder (Drums). Standard 4 piece line-up. I would say they possesses average to above average rock playing abilities. These guys are clearly a resurgence of the powerful Hair Metal sound absent the hair spray. Timing is spot on within the hard rock grooves. Vocals from Mikals are rock solid. The music possesses a heavy metal to hard rock stigma. All in all great workout music. Definitely high adrenalin rock with a late eighties, early nineties flair. The songs All pieces are raw & in your face delivering aggressive guitar attack against solid low end rock rhythms. The vibe Overall dark, powerful, loud & at times explosive. Simply put - music that gets up in your grill & pushes hard. Make no bones about it - This is a rock & roll band that will leave behind in it's wake a thousand trashed hotel rooms. The production is professional grade, though I gave NS a low mark here because it feels like it was released in 1988 or 1995. Though I liked it, this CD is not the most marketable record I've ever heard. The good Honorable mentions go out to hard hitting musical delivery of this band. Motley Crue, LA Guns, Guns & Roses, Bulletboys & Skid Row are definitely some musical parallels. All the aforementioned bands were meaner than snakes. Guitar enthusiast & gear heads will not only love the Mach 4 speeds, but the technically savvy playing of all the members involved. The bad CD sounds like itís stuck in the 80ís with a Hair Metal vibe that just isn't as popular as it used to be. There are some powerful bands out there who have made the successful transition. The ugly NS should consider leaving their souls at the door & slightly revamping their sound a bit for the next CD. But don't for a second lose that intensity. Yep - you nailed it.

The verdict From beginning to end Hollywood Striphounds from Nothing Sacred will not only keep you on the edge of you seat, but will kick your ass & melt your face off in the process The Bottom Line If you need high octane music to work out to - look no further. If you take your eye off this band for even one second you will get exactly what your deserve - your ass kicked!
