The Artist I recently checked out the latest CD from acoustic quartet The Missing Parts entitled Suenos. The name means Dreams in Spanish and they hail from Tuscon, AZ.

The band 4 piece line-up which includes Pat Wright (Acoustic Guitar), Oliver Blaylock (Violin), Douglas Francisco (Lap Steel Guitar, Banjo) and Brian Hullfish (Cello, Harmonica).  I would say they  possesses above average songwriting and above average playing abilities. You will find many impressive musical licks along the way with fancy fretwork and a ton of passion with each movement. Timing is spot on within the Traditionally Spanish Acoustic, Jazz, Folk, R&B  grooves. These guys can hold their own on the guitar, but more importantly this band are gifted musical storytellers. These two talents make for a deadly combination indeed. The music possesses a Folksy, Spanish Folk type stigma that is intense and unpredictable. Definitely classic Acoustic Jam Band feel that is hot to the touch and just and a blast to listen to. The songs Simply put - all songs are fun and will energize your spirits. There’s nothing like a full spirited musical production to get wrapped around and this is one of them. I kept waiting for a weak song to come down the pike - I eventually gave up on that. In fact the songs kept coming and this is one production that comes fully loaded. The production professional grade from start to finish. There's not many songs you can listen to time and time again. The good Honorable mentions go out to amazing Jam Band passion you con only get from a vintage live performance. It's fair to say these guys captured lighting in a bottle with this release. . The bad I wish there was a tad more instrumentation, especially in the rhythm section side of the house. Some Percussion and Low End bass would seal the deal quite nicely in this department. The ugly Nothing to report.

The verdict Suenos by The Missing parts has everything: good playing, fancy picking, amazing songs, crazy time changes, and musical movements on steroids. This music touches many genera's - Americana, Spanish Folk, and R&B. The Bottom Line WARNING - If you listen to this CD you run the risk falling in love with the music of The Missing Parts. Works best after 5 cups of espresso.
