CD REVIEW

The Artist I recently checked out the latest CD from singer/songwriter duo Matt Burke & Brue Baker entitled Pretty Close to Very Good.

The band Burke (vocals) & Baker (Guitar. These guys bring a slew of impressive session players to the table. I would say the band possesses average to above average rock, R&B & indie pop paying abilities. You will find many impressive musical licks along the way. Timing is spot on within the genera. Burke can hold his own on the vocals with a vocal flair reminiscent of Rob Thomas, Jack Johnson, & Jason Mraz. These 2 (Burke/Baker) are indeed a deadly combination. The music possesses a nice flowing rock, indie pop & rock type stigma. All in all great music to groove to. Has a very modern day feel to it that that is timeless with emotional performances. Music will remind you of Blues Traveler,   Dave Matthews Band.   The songs Simply put - all songs are fun & will lift your spirits. There’s nothing like a fun spirited musical production to get wrapped around – & this is one of them. I kept waiting for a weak song to come down the pike - I eventually gave up on that. In fact the songs kept coming - this production comes fully loaded. Overall very upbeat, positive, with amazing stories & dance grooves that possess incredible highs & a few serious lows. The CD has it’s share of happy moments. Simply put  - very much like life itself this CD personifies life experience, with music that are 100% honest, pure & a blast to listen to. The production is professional grade from start to finish. There's not many songs you can listen to time & time again. Has a timeless feel to it. which is not an easy thing to achieve. Overall this CD is extremely marketable. The good Honorable mentions go out to the gifted songwriting & storytelling abilities of this duo .If I Were you I'd keep a watchful eye on this band. All in all once of the best CD"s I've heard this year. This is one band that let's it all hang out & no doubt had allot of fun in the process. Folks out there who enjoy all the aforementioned bands will tumble over this one. The bad Nothing to report. The ugly Nothing to report.

The verdict Pretty Close to Very Good bi the Matt Burke Band has everything: good playing, fancy picking, amazing songs, heart felt vocals, & music that makes it's point. If this band has a gland slamm live presentation-  they would clearly be a force to be reckoned with. The Bottom Line WARNING - If you listen to this CD – you run the risk falling in love with the music of The Matt Burke Band.
