The Verdict 3 out of 5

The Artist I recently checked out the latest CD from Australia's own Kotodama entitled Dichotomy. Band members include brothers Chris & Evan Brown.

The band The 2 members do all compositions, sampling, & plays all musical instrumentation on the CD. Their playing & singing abilities are pretty solid across the board. I would say they possesses intermediate playing & singing abilities with advance songwriting skills. Timing seems to be spot on within the melodic techno pop grooves that push hard. Vocals are effective ear candy that meshes well with the music. The music The music possesses a highly original, ambient-alternative pop rock edge. Lyrical content is a big mystery wrapped up inside an enigma - highly entertaining to say the least but uplifting subject matter. The songs All pieces strike the prefect balance between psychedelic alternative pop, with electronic & Industrial ambience. The songs themselves are clearly above average even flirt with brilliant. The vibe simply put - this CD is a very positive experience. The production is professional grade. The good Honorable mentions go out to these 2 for not being afraid to let it all hang out musically. Kotodama is a highly creative group of artists that are not striving for mass appeal, instead he is clearly being themselves musically. In this world of overly corporate entertainment. Kotodama definitely stands out from other artists in a good way. The bad The biggest problem with this CD is it a bit repetitive. Most rhythm sampling sounds the same The ugly At the end of the day this CD just feels very repetitive sounding.

The verdict Dichotomy by Kotodama is a very entertaining CD - end of subject. You would be wise to keep a watchful eye on them both - they are cutting edge. The songwriting - clearly above average & strongly personifies the Human condition.  Like I said earlier, if you want to listen to an uplifting statement - this is it. Fans of melodic, ambient techno pop will love this one. The Bottom Line If you are looking for a catchy CD to push you hard & deliver a sound that is unique & passionate - look no further.
