The Artist I recently checked out the latest CD from London based Singer/Songwriter Jupiter in Velvet who just released his latest effort Screaming the Love Behind the Stars in 2012.

The band Band members include: Jupiter himself. He's a one man band very much like a Beck or a Phil Collins. The playing abilities of Velvet is pretty solid across the board. I would say he possess intermediate playing abilities and advanced to elite songwriting skills. Timing seems to be spot on within the indie/alternative pop rock grooves. His voice is extremely effective as he delivers many solid vocal performances that match the indie/Pop/Punk style of music perfectly. The music Upbeat, funny, interesting, thought provoking, melodic and highly entertaining. Musical textures reminiscent of Beck, David Bowie, Oingo Boingo, and even Matchbox 20. Anything indie, poppy but fun and entertaining. If you like those kinds of artists you will no doubt get a kick out of this CD. The songs Above average songs. Very simple yet effective, conservative, highly original, and passionate It strikes the perfect balance between alternative rock and just a dash of 70's retro Punk-Pop. Velvet is clearly being himself as a songwriters and performer and this is what emerges. It's clear to me they he is having fun with this. My favorite song on the CD is the probably "Rock n' Roll Girl" The vibe Great vibe. Perfect for late night college parties, coffeehouses, or even magazine shops. The production delivers a lot of musical variety, and is quite marketable. Honorable mentions go out to amazing musicianship and musical persona of Velvet. He' a very talented writer, producer vocalist and musician. Also notable are the top Flight guitar and vocal performances. I give Velvet high marks for not being afraid to let it all hang out musically. Jupiter in Velvet is not trying to be some popish artist striving for mass appeal Ė he's just being himself. The CD refuses to try to hard Ė thatís what makes it so amazing The good Very likeable, marketable record with amazing songs. Just a blast to listen to. The bad Nothing to report. The ugly Nothing to report.

The verdict Screaming the Love Behind the Stars by Jupiter in Velvet is a rock solid CD. The songwriting is clearly well above average. The production gets itís point across well. Again  the most amazing thing about this CD is Velvet on all fronts. Not to mention the impressive behind the scenes production work  making for a very solid release. Fans of carefree Alternative-College Rock with a dash of 70's retro-Punk will love Jupiter in Velvet for everything he is.
