The Artist I recently checked out the latest CD from pianist Jon Wirtz  entitled Sea Level. Jon comes to us from Denver Colorado.

The band No musical accompaniment or band - just Wirtz on piano. I would say Wirtz clearly possesses above average to advanced piano paying abilities. You will find many impressive piano chops & eloquent playing along the way. Timing is spot on within the Contemporary Piano Jazz genera. Wirtz holds his own remarkably well given the fact he is the only musician. He also deserves allot of credit for delivering amazing touch as he is no doubt a gifted player & composer. The music possesses a very earthy Contemporary Piano Jazz mystique. Some pieces even cross the line into contemporary classical. All in all great music to eat a Sunday morning brunch to. Definitely classical yet conservative feel that that is timeless & very emotional. Will remind you of classic George Winston & early works by Joe Sample. The songs Simply put - all songs are well rounded & passionate with amazing highs & lows. There’s nothing like an earthy musical production to fill your sonic space - this is definitely one of them. Simply put  - very much like life itself this CD personifies life experience, with music that are 100% honest, pure & genuine. The production professional grade from start to finish. Crystal clear recording quality. There's not many songs you can listen to time & time again. Has a timeless feel to it. which is not an easy thing to achieve. The good Overall a remarkably consistent, well rounded, & compelling musical production. Honorable mentions go out to the gifted playing & writing abilities of Jon Wirtz. Like the aforementioned it takes talent to hold the attention span of a listener with just one instrument, Wirtz pulls this off with sheer poise. Equally as impressive is Wirtz musical interpretation of Soundgarden's "Black Holed Sun." The bad I wonder if a few more players here & there would add even more musical flavor? The ugly I advise you listen to this CD at a coffee house - armed with a heightened attention span.

The verdict Sea Level by Jon Wirtz is an impressive collection of music. The more you look at, the more impressive it really is. Folks who want a solitary Contemporary Piano Jazz to fill the air will tumble over this one. If you are a restraint, Art Shop or Coffee House owner - trust me when I say you want to get this CD. It's quite marketable in that respect. Just hit play & let the amazing piano virtuoso of Jon Wirtz fill the space. The Bottom Line Every now & then it's an absolute pleasure to listen to amazing piano playing of Jon Wirtz.
