The Artist I recently checked out the latest self titled CD from coupe duo Charley and Jesi based out of Oceanside California. Reading their bio these 2 met at an open mic-night and haven't looked back since. Couple duos tend be the a very special thing. Mainly because they capture the essence of love and music together.

The band "Charley" Hinchliffe plays guitar and sings while "Jesi" DiPalo sings on the CD and like the aforementioned fit together perfectly by letting their relationship bleed into the music. The playing abilities of Charley, Jesi and company are spot on. I would say they possesses  intermediate playing abilities with advanced songwriting skills. Timing seems to be spot on within the R&B, Alternative Rock grooves. DiPaolo's voice just works as she manages to bring both her best ear and eye candy to the table. Hinchliffe sings well throughout and together both make a great vocal pairing. This duet-style vocal format matches this music perfectly. The music The music possesses a catchy, alternative rock edge that is highly captivating and uplifting. Lyrical content will make your day a brighter place. The songs All pieces strike the prefect balance between Alternative Rock, R&B and even Folk. This is Sonny and Cher meets the White Stripes. The songs are fun, entertaining, marketable and captivating The vibe simply put  - this CD possesses a gold standard vibe that will lift your spirits. The production is professional grade from start to finish. The good Honorable mentions go out to Charley and Jesi for sharing their love and music with us. Not in a cheesy way, but in a way that is 100% real fun and genuine. These 2 are not trying to be some popish artist striving for mass appeal, instead they are clearly just being themselves musically. My favorite track on the CD is "Weeks Turn to Days" The bad Nothing to report. The ugly Nothing to report.

The verdict The debut CD from Charley and Jesi  is a very entertaining CD. But actually it transcends things like words. When 2 people are madly in love it shows in every conceivable way. It's something special that cannot be faked and it when transcends into music expression - can be a very special and powerful thing. The CD from Charley is an amazing musical snapshot of the lives of 2 people madly in love. The Bottom Line In this world of overly corporate musical entertainment it's nice to know that there are still artists out there like Charley and Jesi who represent everything music is supposed to be about. Music that is Special, Magical, Infectious, Spontaneous and Joyous. In this universe there's nothing more powerful than the spirit of love. So let me just wrap up 2011 by saying there's nothing more powerful than the debut CD from Charley and Jesi. Congratulations to Charley and Jesi for winning the CD of the Year Award - 2011.
