CD REVIEW

The Artist I recently checked out the latest CD from singer/songwriter A.B. Clyde and the Kitty Litters entitled Smokin' Catnip. Turns out Clyde and the gang hail from Los Angeles.

The band Standard 4 piece line-up which includes Clyde on guitar and vocals. I would say he  possesses average songwriting and above average playing from his band. You will find many impressive musical licks along the way. Timing is spot on within the Rockabilly, Folk, R&B  grooves. Clyde  can hold his own on the guitar and vocals, but more importantly Clyde is a gifted storyteller. These two talents make for a deadly combination indeed. The music possesses a Bluesy, Rockabilly, Folk-ish type stigma. All in all great music to eat a Sunday morning brunch to. Definitely classic Americana feel that is timeless and a blast to listen to. Music will remind you of classic Hank Williams Jr., and Delbert McClinton with a touch of Roy Buchanan. The songs Simply put - all songs are fun and will lift your spirits. There’s nothing like a fun spirited musical production to get wrapped around and this is one of them. NOTE: A few of the songs touch on mature type lyrical content and themes. I kept waiting for a weak song to come down the pike - I eventually gave up on that. In fact the songs kept coming and this is one production that comes fully loaded. Simply put,  very much like life itself this CD personifies life experience, with music that is 100% honest, pure and just a blast to listen to. The production is professional grade from start to finish. There's not many songs you can listen to time and time again. The good Honorable mentions go out to the gifted songwriting and storytelling abilities of A.B. Clyde. Folks out there who enjoy Americana, Rockabilly, R&B, Folk and even Rock will fall head over heals with this CD. The bad I can't wrap my head around the band name "The Kitty Litters". I don't get it and for the record I don't think I want to either. The ugly Nothing to report.

The verdict Smokin' Catnip by A.B. Clyde and The Kitty Litters has everything: good playing, fancy picking, amazing songs, crazy messages, mature lyrical content and music that covers all the bases – Country, R&B, Folk, Americana and even a dash of Rock. The Bottom Line WARNING - If you listen to this CD you run the risk falling in love with the music of A.B. Clyde and The Kitty Litters.
